It was my birthday while we were on vacation, and my sisters wanted to know what kind of cake I wanted. I was mulling over coconut or carrot until I opened up the cupboard in the kitchen and saw this:

What I imagine are go-to family recipes written onto the inside of the cupboard doors. And there was my answer:

Aunt Margaret’s Chocolate Cake. How could I have had anything else?
