new washington post project

I have a new project up at The Washington Post to make this stationery kit. Hopefully it will help me make good on my resolution to write more letters.

As I confessed in the column, I based this project on a great gift that one of my sisters made for me. Her stationery kit was sewn, and this one is paper-based, so the sewing is optional. Is imitation still considered the highest form of flattery? I hope so. You can check it out right here.

Really cute!!! Am going to try it this weekend. Am interested in making a cloth version as well...do you think I can do it in fabric with your directions and adjust accordingly? Thanks!

Kelly, it's stationery.

How beautiful, and handy too!

Yolanda: how embarrassing. Thanks for the copy edit.

Elizabeth: yes I think this will work perfectly fine with fabric -- but you will probably want to add a layer of interfacing between the front cover and the inside piece to give it a little more structure. Let us know how it works out!

Do you have suggestions of online stores for buying decorative cover stock? Most sites I have seen have boring selections.
